I do not come from a long line of lawyers. My grandpa never went to college. He was a small business-owner, working six-days a week as a butcher, selling his products to restaurants and grocery stores in St. Louis, Missouri. When I got my first job at a big law firm, he got tears in his eyes when we rode up the elevator and we looked out the big window in my office overlooking the Minneapolis skyline and the Mississippi River. I don't think he could believe that a guy who made hams and sausages on the North Side of St. Louis could have a granddaughter who was a lawyer. I also think that I get a lot of my work ethic and sense of value from him. People work hard for their money and should get something in return.
Both of my parents are retired public-school teachers, and I believe that's why I'm so committed to making sure that my clients understand what we are doing and why. I'm not just a lawyer who drafts legal documents, I'm also a teacher and advisor like my parents had been for their students.
Ever since graduating law school in 2000, I have always taken the time to get to know my clients and their needs. This is not a factory where we crank out one-size-fits-all legal documents. I also don't sell people a Cadillac when they just need Honda. I break down complex problems, and I tailor a solution for each person and situation. I translate the legal jargon so that it makes sense to my clients, and, in the end, that is what gives me satisfaction and my client's peace of mind.
I look forward to working with you.
